Robert L. Tucker Obituary

Reverend Robert Leslie Tucker, 78 of Temperance, MI, passed from this life into eternal life on November 7, 2021. He was surrounded by his family in his home as he was welcomed into Heaven. He was born on March 13th, 1943 to Garland and Evelyn Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Pastor Cheryl Anne (Morris) Tucker. They were married for 55 years. Together they have four children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Children include Robert Bryan Tucker, Gairt Tucker (Cari), Leslie Gamble (Ken), and Sean Tucker (Jodi). Grandchildren include Bryan Anthony Tucker, Kylie Giljum (Zack), Madison Tucker, Paige Tucker, Adrianne Kagan (Michael), Charlie Cook, Madison Andra, Christian Gamble, Jordan Keiser, Shawn Keiser, and Laura Keiser. Great-grandchildren are Kai Kagan and Marleigh Giljum. Robert was a Vietnam Veteran who served four years honorably in the United States Navy. After the military, he began Bible school and was ordained in 1977. Robert enjoyed preaching, singing, helping others, and giving counseling to anyone who was seeking guidance. Having pastored for ten different churches over the course of fifty years, Robert was a well-traveled man. He enjoyed doing this, especially with his family at his side. He was most recently the Senior pastor at CountrySide Wesleyan Church, where he served for the last thirty years. He was a hard-working man who not only served in the ministry but was also a quality auditor for various companies in the motor industry. He was bi-vocational, who performed various jobs some of which being but not limited to, teaching quality control for the auto industry, painting houses, driving school buses, and working in a factory to provide for his family. He was very proud to be Irish, a Navy Veteran, and a Hoosier fan from Indiana. He is known by most people for his storytelling, sense of humor, witty comments, and love for his wife and family. He will be missed and loved by many. Robert and his wife Cheryl found a Gideon Bible in a hotel room one night early in their marriage. This prompted them to re-dedicate their lives to Christ. This strengthened their marriage, therefore in lieu of flowers, please donate to The Gideons International at Gideons.org in Robert’s memory. Service will be held on November 21st at 2:30 PM at Whiteford Wesleyan Church, 10285 Sylvania Petersburg Rd., Ottawa Lake, MI 49267 with a luncheon to follow.
