Lilla Kellogg
Lilla Kellogg, 91, of rural Buckeye, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Alden United Methodist Church with burial in the Buckeye Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the church before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Lilla was born to Anton and Edna Pingel in 1930 in Alden, Iowa. Her early education was in the rural Alden Country School and she graduated from Alden High School in 1948. In January 1950, Lilla married her high school sweetheart, Robert Kellogg and together they farmed a few miles south of Alden. They moved down the road in 1967 to the Kellogg homestead family farm 2 miles north of Buckeye. They raised their four children on the farms and later provided nurturing of their much loved grandchildren. Lilla raised her children in the church and the understanding that caring for others is life’s greatest joy - as she showed through taking care of her family and her volunteer work in the church, meals-on-wheels, and hospice. It was her greatest pleasure to pass on her homemaking and care-taking skills to her grandchildren. Lilla especially enjoyed traveling with Bob in their retirement years and kept in touch with their circle of friends and family. Lilla continued growing in faith throughout her lifetime, cherishing both her relationships in the Church and her hope in Jesus Christ her Savior. Lilla is preceded in death by her husband Robert Kellogg, her grandson Blake Leu, her parents Anton and Edna Pingel, and her three sisters Avon Plockmeyer (Holland, Michigan), Lucille Schmidt (Mason City, Iowa), and Edith Terwilliger Barger (Cedar Rapids, Iowa). She is survived by her four children, Janet (Byron) Leu of Ottumwa, Iowa, Ann (Dennis) Dieterich of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Judy (Randall) Eaton of Indianola, Iowa, and Rick Kellogg (Pilar Sanjuan) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Obituary
