Patricia Marie Passarelli Obituary

Patricia Marie Passarelli (nee O’Connor) was born on January 4, 1942 and passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2021. Pat grew up in Aurora, IL where she attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Madonna High School. She graduated from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she took a leap of faith and moved to California to begin her life-long career as a registered nurse. As fate would have it, there she met the love of her life, Mike Passarelli. They married April 12, 1969 and the following year, welcomed their son Eric. In an effort to be closer to relatives, the family moved back to Aurora where daughter Lynne completed them in 1972. Finding the words to describe Patricia Passarelli is almost impossible. When you say she was funny, smart, strong, kind, and caring, you don’t get the full picture. You don’t understand the full person. You don’t see her childish side, playing tricks with a mischievous glint in her eye. You don’t see her sarcastic side, her cynicism that balanced out her evangelical kindness. You don’t see her laughing until she couldn’t see or crying at the drop of a hat while reading a story about an abandoned dog. You don’t see her getting excited over an eagle or a loon or when she would get something right on Jeopardy. You don’t know that she loved hummingbirds (“hummers”). She got excited over new shops in town or a new product she could try the next time she went to the grocery store. She knew every birthday, every ailment, every appointment, every person's name and their mother and when she had last talked to them. She never failed to send a card for any occasion. She lived so many lives with so many people and she was more than what can be said in a small paragraph in a newspaper. She was special and she was ours and she will be dearly missed. Pat was a lover of nature and all the simple things in life. She was an adoring pet owner to many over the years (as we write this Jazz and Maggie Mae are looking for her and the treats she might slip under the table to them). She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Peter the Fisherman church in Eagle River, WI. who prayed every day for those she loved and attended church every Sunday. A devoted friend, she cultivated many loyal and life-long friendships spanning decades. She had a deep love for her childhood and always said how grateful she was to have had such a good one. She loved cooking, taking care of plants, and sitting watching the lake for hours on her screened porch. She loved sunning her legs on the deck, anything having to do with horses, and german chocolate cake. She thoroughly enjoyed beating her family at cards, reading books faster than you could gift them to her, and pulling off a good surprise. What she loved most in life was taking care of Mike. Smart as a whip, with a dry wit and keen sense of humor, she was simply unforgettable. Not many people can say that they have found their soulmate, let alone spend 53 years with them, but Pat and Mike certainly can. A single afternoon with them told you all you needed to know about how deeply in love they were and still very much are. They lived for each other, their days were wrapped around each other, and you couldn't find a more in-sync couple if you tried. Their first thought was always for the other, just as selfless love should be. They waited on each other everyday, and neither of them wanted for anything, because they had everything they needed. They are one another’s number one fan, confidant, partner in crime, and very best friend. Pat is preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Virginia O’Connor; her loving parents-in-law, Salvatore and Teresa Passarelli; and many close aunts and uncles. She is survived by her soulmate of 53 years, Mike (Raffaele) and her grateful children, Eric (Stefanie) Passarelli and Lynne Harris. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren: Kelsey, Ross, Skylar, Emma, Fletcher, Brennen and Eden; her two sisters, Mary Anne (Ron) Zeller and Kathleen Pestrella; and her loving brothers and sisters-in-law. She was aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews, and she loved all of the above with unconditional love and a selflessness that can never be forgotten. A celebration of Pat’s remarkable life will be held in January of 2022. Details will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Pat’s memory to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Eagle River, Wisconsin, or the Vilas County Wisconsin Animal Shelter.
