Richard Ruffner Obituary

Richard Ruffner, 83, of Brecknock Twp., passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Patricia A. (Blankenbiller) Ruffner.

Born in Brecknock Twp., he was the son of the late Harvey and Mabel (Beavens) Ruffner.

He retired from Birdsboro Corporation as a welder.  He is a current member of Calvary Evangelical Church of Pennwyn and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gouglersville.  He was President of the Berks Camping Club.  He loved hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling, watching Westerns and playing cards.  He was a life time member of the Gouglersville Fire Co. and Mohnton Fish and Game, among others.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Michael S., widower of Angela Lynn (Geschwindt) Ruffner of Gouglersville; Brian K., husband of Terri (Miller) Ruffner of Adamstown; steps-son, Robert Fishburn of Mohnton and Richard Fishburn of Reading.

Also surviving are grandchildren:  Zachary, Steven, Samuel, Holli, Austin and Danielle Ruffner, and Jennifer (Ruffner) Hearn; siblings, Shirley Miller of Reading and Fern Hartman of Schafferstown and three great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan L. Ruffner, a son, Vincent J. Ruffner, and siblings, Norman Blimline and Mary Jane Ruffner and Eugene Ruffner.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton. 

A private funeral service for the family will be held on Saturday with burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with costs.
