Bobby G. Taylor, 93, died Friday, November 5, 2021 in Beaver. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas with Gus Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow with Billings Funeral Home, Woodward in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Glen Taylor was born August 1, 1928 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Silas Bob Taylor and Chloe Rebecca Flagle Taylor. Bobby was the baby of the family, and he enjoyed the benefits that come with being the youngest of the family. He enjoyed high school and the activities involved with high school. Bobby graduated from Beaver High School. He also enjoyed church activities, and played the piano for church.

On May 15, 1947, Bob was married to Hazel Mattie Shepherd at Perryton, Texas. As a young girl, Hazel told her parents that she was going to marry Bobby Taylor. She had met him at a camp meeting. Several years after meeting, they started singing together and then dating. After marrying, Bob and Hazel attended Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

They returned to Perryton for a time and then began a lifetime of serving the Lord as pastors of several churches. They pastored churches in Enid, Oklahoma, San Diego and Spring Valley, California, Denver, Colorado, and Big Springs, Texas. They then came to Midway Country Church at Logan, Oklahoma in 1977. They pastored Midway for nine years. They then moved to Laverne, Oklahoma, where they were pastors at the Laverne Community Church. They were also the caretakers for the Midwest Youth Camp. They worked so hard at the youth camp to make it nice for the young people who came to the camp. Because Uncle Bobby played the piano and Aunt Hazel did not, Bob would play the piano for the worship service and Hazel would lead the service until time for the preaching.

Bob and Hazel were both very interested in craftwork. You could be sure the young people who came to Vacation Bible School were going to have an outstanding project to work on and take home.

The most important thing to Bobby was that all people would know about Jesus and love Jesus. His ministry spanned 60 years, and he was faithful to always share the gospel.

Bob Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. He was also preceded in death by his only child, Bobby Wayne Taylor in 2003. He was also preceded in death by a special nephew, Jerry Howard in 2020.

Bob is survived by three grandsons: Robert Millison, Blake Taylor, and Jeff Taylor. He is survived by a granddaughter, Sunday Dawn Fike. He also has two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, and five great-great-grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by his daughter-in-law Janice Taylor. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
