<p>Don’s work on God’s earth was completed on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 11:30 pm, as he entered his heavenly home into the arms of Jesus.</p><p><br></p><p> Don’s life was full until the very end. He had an extreme thirst for learning and never stopped expanding that knowledge. At the time of his death, he was employed as a Professor at the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, ME.</p><p><br></p><p> He had a very extensive engineering career that spanned over 50 years which included positions at Haliburton, Texas Instruments, IMP in Nova Scotia, Raytheon, NASA Space Center and Bastion Technologies. He graduated with an Aerospace Engineering Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1971. He earned his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 from the University of Houston. He had many patents granted under his name throughout the years. Don was a registered Engineer in Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and Maine as well as Nova Scotia, Canada. He was also a member of several engineering societies. Don was deeply proud of his work as a Layman in the Prison Ministries in Houston, TX for the Less than The Least. </p><p><br></p><p> Left to mourn his passing is the love of his life, Velva Joyce (Munroe) Coppedge; five sons, Duane, Jim, Gary Alan all of Texas, Tyson Wood of Nova Scotia and Will Wood of New Mexico; a brother, Gary and wife Anette; a sister; Debbie Trevathan and husband Steve of Texas; nine grandchildren; Adam, Jasmine, Anabel, Xena, Rayna, Max, Lilia, Alena and Mayah. Don was predeceased by his son David, father, Charles Isaac and mother, Edna Elise. </p><p><br></p><p> A memorial service will be held, 4:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2021, at West Hampden Baptist Church, 574 Western Ave., Hampden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maine Maritime Academy, 1 Pleasant Street, Castine, ME 04420.
