Maudie Cora Kilfillen Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family of Maudie Cora Kilfillen of Chipman NB announce her death at Mill Cove Nursing Home on November 5, 2021 at the age of 92. Born in Fulton Brook, Salmon River NB, she was the daughter of the late David and Beatrice (Fulton) Glenn. She married the love of her life Reginald Kilfillen, who predeceased her in 2016. She is also predeceased by two brothers, Matthew and Joseph and by four sisters, Betty, Mary, Hazel and Connie.

For many years, Maudie worked in lumber camps as a cook, and she developed a life-long love of nature and animals. She also worked as a custodian at Chipman High School until she retired. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, bowling and, in later years, bingo. She loved her independence, and was proud that she could still drive her car at 92. Maudie was a faithful member of the Christian Life Center of Chipman, NB.

She is survived by her son, Gary Kilfillen (Mary Ellen); her daughter, Wanda Peters (Mark Boucher); four grandchildren, Shawnna Chambers (Jamie), Amanda McGraw (Bryan) Matthew Kilfillen (Katie), and Sarah Kilfillen (Matt Phillips); three great-grandchildren, Mariah and Kaleigh Chambers and Vincent Kilfillen; four sisters, Ruby Mott, Nancy Buckley, Wanetta Glenn (Victor Capozzi), Linda Glenn; one sister-in-law, Shirley Glenn, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her church family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mill Cove Nursing Home and Dr. Greg Haines for their care and support.

The family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 6 - 8 pm.

Funeral service will take place at the Christian Life Center on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Patrick Halferty officiating. Interment will take place at the Red Bank Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those 12 and older attending visitation and service will be required to wear masks, show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID.

For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
