Professor Adekunle H. Dawodu, beloved husband of Cecilia Adebisi Dawodu (nee Akinyede), went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Oct 31st 2021. He was the first child of Fasasi Boladale Dawodu and Madam Sauli Dawodu (Nee Adejonwo) of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. Professor Dawodu obtained an MBBS degree in 1968 from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He received his pediatric training in the United Kingdom and neonatology fellowship at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, USA. Upon completion of his fellowship, he led pediatric programs in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.His journey eventually led him back to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he served as the Professor of Pediatrics and Director of International Patient Care and Education Program. He retired and was appointed Professor Emeritus in 2018. His research interests are far and wide, but most recently concentrated on the study of Vitamin D and its impact on mothers and infants globally. He has published over 100 articles, been awarded on multiple occasions and is regarded worldwide as a subject matter expert in this area. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Cecilia Adebisi Dawodu, his five children Olufunlola Oyelese (Olufemi), Adetokunbo Omoruyi (Osawaru), Folasade Adewunmi (Obafemi), Olufemi Dawodu (Carlee) and Oluwatobi Dawodu (Judy) and sixteen grandchildren Catherine Young, Osaz Omoruyi, Nimi Oyelese, Debjani Dawodu, Feran Adewunmi, Kolade Oyelese, Korede Oyelese, Keziah Dawodu, Nife Adewunmi, Nasya Omoruyi, Elizabeth Dawodu, Eden Dawodu, Tobi Omoruyi, Toni Omoruyi, Jubilee Dawodu and Aliyah Dawodu. Dear brother of Titilola Abdul and Adebayo Dawodu and many other brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his sister Jibike Sogbade. Service of Songs will be held Friday, November 19th at 6 PM at Montgomery Community Church, 11251 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 10 AM at Vineyard Cincinnati Church, 11340 Century Cir E., Springdale OH 45246, where Viewing will take place from 9 AM until time of service. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Warren County Event Center, 665 N. Broadway St., Lebanon, OH 45036.
