It is with sadness and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Sharron Ann Petty, at Durand Manor in Golden BC with her daughters by her side, on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at the age of 74 years.

Sharron was born in Chatham, Ontario the oldest of 9 children born to Ivar and Faith. The family moved to Golden in 1951 where she attended school, made many friends and grew up to eventually raise her family. Over the years, Sharron had many occupations such as serving at the Freedom Hotel, tree planting, Evans Forest Products to eventually running and owning her own business. After retirement she was able to explore the world with her friends and family to places like Montreal, Costa Rica, an Alaskan and Mediterranean cruise as well as a trip to Sweden to visit her family’s ancestors.

Ever the social butterfly Sharron enjoyed gathering people to celebrate all occasions with a good meal and lots of laughs. Some of her favorite activities included camping, hiking, walking, gardening, traveling, swimming and reading. You could always find Sharron out for a walk with a friendly smile and hello to everyone she passed.

Sharron will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Tracey (Dwayne) and Tricia (Ken); brothers and sisters, Bill (Barb), Colleen (Blaine), Brian (Alice), Lonnie (Melody), David, Kelly, Karen (Terry) and Sean; grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Durand Manor for their loving care and compassion for Sharron over the last few years.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC or Henry M. Durand Manor in memory of Sharron.
