James Joseph Minzey of Divide, Colorado, passed away October 30, 2021.  Jim was born May 12, 1951 in Flint, Michigan.  On June 19th, 1976, Jim married the love of his life, Ellen Cleveland Minzey.  In 1988 Jim and Ellen moved to Colorado where they remained the rest of their lives.  They loved the mountains and enjoyed many hiking adventures together.

Ellen preceded Jim in death in 2016 after a sixteen-year battle with cancer.  Jim was also preceded in death by his father, James Robert Minzey (2010), his mother, Helena Hark Minzey (2014), and his brother and only sibling, Mike Minzey.  He is survived by his sister-in-law, Andrea, his nephew, Michael (Nicole), and two great nieces, Addison and Harper, all from Michigan. 

Jim had a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and a year towards his Master’s degree.  He spent thirteen months helping build the Trans Alaskan Pipe Line.  Jim later worked in Food Service Management most of his career.

Jim loved his wife, his friends, his pets, his home, hiking, wildlife, collecting rocks, minerals and artifacts and working with his church and in the community. 

Celebration of Life Service, viewing, & Rosary will be held at Mountain Memorial Funeral Home, 51 County Road 5, Divide, CO, on November 15th at 6 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Woods Church, 220 South West St. Woodland Park, CO 80863 at 11 am with a Rosary at 10:30 am on November 16.  Following the funeral, internment will be at the Divide Colorado Cemetery and afterward a reception with lunch will be served back at the Church parish hall in Woodland Park.
