Amanda Marie Lisby, 32, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 29, 2021.

Amanda Marie was born in Clinton County, IN on June 7, 1989 to Timothy and Anita (Johnson) Lisby.  Amanda had a big heart with a lot of love to give, especially where animals were concerned.  She was always rescuing one critter or another.  Usually it was cats, but other animals fell under her care as well. She once came upon a cat in a tree, and called everyone she could think of to come help.  When the fire department, animal rescue, and her personal contact list all refused, she paid $100 of her own money for a tree climber to rescue the cat for her.  She had a family of raccoons living on her roof, and one time when one of the babies had fallen, she just scooped it up, climbed up a ladder, and returned it to mama, completely sure she wouldn't get bitten.  And she was right. Amanda also once found an opossum in the toilet and raised it under her sink.  She was very involved with animal rescues and would stop at nothing to help an animal in need.

Amanda was also very much into nature.  She loved to be outside. She enjoyed going to nature sanctuaries when she had the time.  She was a practicing Wiccan and felt very connected to the natural world and the Earth.  The only part of nature she hated were bugs and spiders, and she would run from both. She was a water baby who adored swimming.  Traveling to the beach was a must, but she enjoyed the mountains just as much.

Cooking wasn't Amanda's forte, she once boiled chicken and managed to catch it on fire, something she was teased for endlessly by everyone in her family.  After that her stove privileges were revoked and she could only use the microwave or oven.  She had a sweet tooth and honey buns and pecan swirls were her jam. 

Amanda was the sneaky mastermind of the friend group. With her silver tongue she could talk people into stuff, and herself out of trouble, with ease. 

Amanda was generous and gave her love freely.  Her family was so important to her.  She loved being an aunt and was really close with her nephew Bentley Layne, whom called her Aunt May May.  She would often give him temporary tattoos and they would talk to one another through the vents of the house.  She wasn't perfect as none of us are. We all know she was struggling with her demons and was trying and wanted to change. Change is very hard but with the new baby coming, the prospect of her life changing for the better and a new start had her very excited that she would overcome her battles. Sadly she will never get that chance. She loved all of you who helped her along the way.

Amanda is survived by her daughter Annika Miller; her mother Anita Lisby; her father Timothy Lisby; her brothers Christopher, Robert (Lindy), and Shane; her nephews Bentley Layne, Elijah Blake, Victor Leroy; grandmother Janet Johnson; Aunt Nina; Uncle David (Shannon); Great Aunt Linda; Best Friend Sarah Mathis; dog Keylo; many friends; many extended aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services for Amanda will be 7 PM, Friday, November 12, 2021 at Fountain Square Cremation & Funeral Services. Visitation will be from 4 PM until the hour of service.
