Mason MacDonald Obituary

It is with great sorrow that the families of Mason Lee MacDonald announce his sudden passing on October 19, 2021, at the age of 33.
Born May 4th, 1988, to Lily MacDonald Croskery and Michael Trottier, Mason leaves behind his beloved parents, his devoted stepparents Derek Croskery and Kathy McDonald and his cherished brother Alex (Cate Larochelle) and sister Taija (Zach Fritsch). Mason was the proud and loving uncle of Emmylou and Everleigh, the very special nephew and godchild of Lisa and Georges Carlos, and had a special connection with his cousins, Andrée Loucks (Luke Babad) and Erika McDonald (Andrew Ferreira).
He will be sadly missed by his grandmothers Jean Trottier (Pete Trottier, predeceased), Pearl MacDonald and Rolande McDonald (Bill “Pops” McDonald, predeceased) as well as his aunts and uncles Denis Laurin (Dale, predeceased), Richard, Peter Trottier (Anna), John McDonald (Marica), Donna Loucks (Chris), Ross McDonald (Jennifer), Kathleen Everett (Todd), Sharron MacDonald (Harry Chadwick), Eileen Fontaine (Brian Fay), Debbie MacDonald, Cathy MacDonald, Judy Frescura, and his cousins, Jacob Carlos (Alexandra), James Carlos (Hilary), Kean Loucks, Mathew McDonald Abigail McDonald, Rachel McDonald, Jason Everett, Victoria Everett, Ashley Everett and many close friends.
Mason was a courageous bright light in our lives and a most dependable friend. Mason was forever interesting and interested. He loved to discuss and debate with his friends over a pint and he had the ability to make someone feel truly heard. Mason knew firsthand what it was to struggle with mental illness and was passionate about supporting others in their own mental health journeys – he devoted his life to this endeavour. He graduated with a neuroscience degree from Carleton University and worked as a psychometrist and an assessor with the March of Dimes helping Canadian veterans. He loved the outdoors, visiting Kukagami with his beloved Pops, and spending time with his family.
Friends may gather to celebrate Mason’s life at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 after 12:30pm. Prayers in the R. J. Barnard Chapel at 2pm. Face masks are mandatory. In lieu of flowers, Mason’s family will be accepting donations and contributions to a fund set up in Mason’s name to support local efforts in the mental health space at https://gofund.me/5730373c. For those who cannot attend, there service will be streamed live at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1635812604145786
