Parlin Theresa Diamond Shalkauskas, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021. Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she moved to Newark with her husband Edward J. Shalkauskas Sr. where they opened a luncheonette and worked together for years before moving to Parlin. Family was Theresa’s life. With her husband, they built a busy, welcoming home in the President Park section of Parlin and then later built a home in Albrightsville, PA where they moved after their retirement. As a mother of 5, Theresa was the creative force in all of her family’s activities. Besides taking care of her children, she loved to garden, do crafts, and most of all clean, for which she was well known. She was an active member of the Sayreville VFW, where her husband was past commander. While living in the Poconos, she was involved in St. Peter the Fisherman Church as well as the Penn-Kidder Senior Center. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends. After the untimely death of her husband in 1995, she moved back to New Jersey to be closer to her growing family. She is predeceased by her parents Solomon and Nellie Diamond, her beloved husband of 48 years Edward J. Shalkauskas Sr., her infant daughter Mary, her siblings Jack, Robert, & Albert Diamond, Irene Heider and Rita Buford. Surviving are her loving children Diane & Rick Bennis , Sharon Munson & her fiancé Carl , Edward Jr & Nancy, Gail & Cas Ogorek , Lisa & Mike Borruso, her niece Andrea & Keith Mervin whom she raised along with her children, her beloved grandchildren and their spouses Aaron & Kristy, Jessica & Jessie, Christopher & April, Jonathan, Edward, Jessica, Tara, Marie & Matt, Nicholas & Maegen, Michael & Laura, her cherished great-grandchildren Nathan, Brooke, Karter, Kolby, Jonathan, Logan, Jacinda, Jayden, Nicholas, Sawyer, Dominick, and Hailey, her sisters Marion Novak, Aldona Oblick, and Lillian & Paul Sheehan as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be Thursday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main St. Sayreville, with a 9:30am funeral Mass to follow at St. Mary’s RC Church in South Amboy. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in East Brunswick. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm.
