Lewis D Stilson Obituary

Lewis D Stilson, age 70, passed away October 29, 2021, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lew was born in Price, Utah December 17, 1950 to his loving parents, Ruth Humphrey and Kent Stilson of Orangeville, Utah. He was married to the love of his life, Edna Leigh Young on July 22, 1972 in the Provo, Utah Temple.

Lewis graduated from and played football, basketball, and baseball for Emery High School. He then attended and played baseball for the University of Utah. He returned to Orangeville and continued with the family business, Stilson and Sons Construction, where he worked for the past 50 years. He also taught Building Construction and Construction Management at the College of Eastern Utah/USU-Eastern. Lewis and Leigh built their home in Orangeville, Utah where they raised six children. He lived for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Lewis spent countless hours teaching his family and others life-long lessons while coaching sports and spending time on the mountain and desert. Lewis was a true friend to all and had a special place in his heart for the communities in Emery and Carbon Counties.

Lewis was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Bishopric, and Stake Presidency. Lewis gave relentless service to his community building ramps, roofing homes, and helping patch the hearts of many who thought they were lost to the Lord.

He is survived by his wife Edna Leigh Young; daughter Jessie Balmanno (Wolf), sons Dean Stilson (Charity), Jay Stilson (Amber), Evan Stilson (Josie), Brad Stilson (Carrie), and Kent Stilson (Missie), brother Royce Stilson (Judy), and sisters Valene Wakefield (Lond) and Camille Williams (Richard) and 26 grandchildren.
