<p>Barbara McDonald Crawford Krey, a long-time resident of Wolfeboro, NH, died at age 97 on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She passed quickly with her family by&nbsp;her&nbsp;side.&nbsp;</p> <p>She was born on August 9, 1924 in Manchester, England to Lillian and Andrew Crawford. She was predeceased by her sister, Katherine Campbell and by her husband, Roger A. Krey.&nbsp;</p> <p>She is survived by her four children: Pamela Dan and her husband, Julian R.A. Dan, of Wilmington, NC; Andrew Krey of Watertown, MA; Robert Krey, and his wife Claudia Krey, of Shrewsbury, MA; and James Krey of Fairfax, VA. She is survived by her three grandchildren: Olivia Dan and her partner,&nbsp;William Dooley; Jessica Dan and her husband, Andrew Hruby; and Jack Krey; as well as two great-grandchildren: Lucy Dan-Hruby and Roger Dooley.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Barbara lived most of her life in Mirror Lake, NH. She met her husband in England at the end of WWII when he was recovering from war injuries. During the War, she was trained in Chemistry at Oxford and was a courier for the British war effort. After the war, Barbara studied to be a teacher at the University of Bath in Bath, England. She worked as both a teacher and in banking.&nbsp;</p> <p>Barbara and Roger corresponded for eight years, later marrying and living in Montreal, Canada. The move to Mirror Lake allowed them to live a rural life enjoying the lake and the beautiful countryside. She was an active congregant of All Saints Episcopal Church. She was a gifted cook, a skilled organizer of a busy family, a prolific needlewoman and was possessed of great common sense.&nbsp; She became a regular tennis player, and she traveled with her husband in the United States and Europe. Many will remember her as a voracious reader and frequent visitor to the Wolfeboro Public Library.&nbsp;</p> <p>In her final years she moved to be near to her&nbsp;son Robert and his family in Shrewsbury, MA. She was lovingly cared for by her son, Andrew. Barbara will be remembered with love and respect by her family.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wolfeboro Public Library Foundation, PO Box 472, Wolfeboro, NH 03894,&nbsp;whose website is&nbsp;&nbsp;www.wolfeborolibraryfoundation.org</p> <p>Please make donations to the&nbsp;landscape fund.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Funeral arrangements are being made by Lord Funeral Home, (www.lordfuneralhome.com) and the service will be 11:00AM, Saturday November 6, 2021 at All Saints Episcopal Church, South Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Krey Cemetery, Mirror Lake, NH.</p>
