Gardham, Irene Edith … passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Riverbend Place on Saturday March 24, 2012 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of 60 years to Don. Devoted mother to Dawn, John, Ted and his wife Sandy. Proud grandmother to Emilie, Nicole and Maddison. Irene was a strong and intelligent woman who was also very musical and artistic. Her greatest passions were her gardens and spending time with her grandkids and husband. Irene was a longtime member of College Street United Church in Toronto. Irene’s life was forever changed by a devastating stroke she suffered on December 25, 2003, which was soon followed by a move from Penetang to Riverbend Place, Cambridge to be closer to family. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends on Tuesday March 27, 2012 from 7- 9pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday March 28, 2012 at 2 pm with refreshments to follow. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Riverbend Place for the excellent care shown to Irene and her family. Floral tributes to Corbett Funeral Home or alternatively a donation made in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
