Abigail Lorene Bosarge Obituary

Abigail “Abby” Lorene Bosarge, age 18, of Pass Christian, passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2021, with her loving family by her side.

Abby was born in Jackson, MS but grew up mostly in Pass Christian. She graduated from Pass Christian High School with a 4.165 GPA, despite battling cancer, and was awarded many academic and character awards throughout her academic career. The highest honor of these was the Pass Christian High School Hall of Fame award, which was given as an accumulated result of all her academic, athletic, and character achievements. This earned her photograph a permanent home on the wall of her beloved high school and made her very proud.

Abby was active in numerous sports, including being the youngest player (kicker and wide receiver) on the Gulf Coast Monarchy, an all-woman’s semi-professional football team. However, her heart belonged to soccer. She played forward and was actively being recruited by many colleges when she was diagnosed with cancer. Abby accepted a Dean’s Scholarship at Rollins College in Winterpark, FL, where she planned to study political science and sociology before advancing to law school. She wanted to fight for the underserved in her country.

Against All Odds was a phrase she had engraved on her class ring. Abby spent her time on hospice living her best life and fulfilling most items on a constantly evolving bucket list. She got “married” to her friend Kal Lizana, traveled to Disney World twice, attended a concert, saw her little sister go to her first day of school, visited and cooked for loved ones, and shocked medical professionals by defying medical predictions for more than six months! She has been contacted by many of her favorite celebrities and has gathered over 30,000 online followers through Facebook and Instagram by doing nothing more than just being herself… bold, compassionate, caring, strong, and wise.

Abby’s favorite color was lavender, she adored dogs, and she found comfort in baking. Her favorite television show was “The Office,” which also brought her much comfort through tragedy. Nevertheless, a paragraph is insufficient space to describe the most powerful, profound, and lasting legacy of Abby…that is the unique way she touched the lives of others. Her greatest fear was that she would die before she had a chance to make a difference in the world. She needn’t have worried. Her greatest legacy is in the ripple effect from the goodness that she created in this world, changing so many more hearts and souls in her short 18 years than most of us could ever hope to touch in a lifetime.

Abby was preceded in death by her great grandparents, J.R. and Effie Bosarge and J.E. Richards; and her dog, Rufus.

She is survived by her parents, Jerusha Longmire and Joseph Richard Bosarge; her siblings, Jordan, Emelia, Alex, and Juliette Bosarge; her grandparents, Lorene and Phil Bosarge; her grandparents, Sarah and Jack Longmire; her great grandmother, Mary Alice Richards; her beloved dog, Stan; many cousins, aunts, uncles, dear friends; and an army of prayer warriors.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Outdoor Chapel, 11322 East Taylor Road, Gulfport, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Mass will follow at 4:00 PM. Sunset committal ceremonies will be at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
