Ms. Elsie L. Wyche

Rocky Mount, NC Elsie Lee Wyche age 92, of Rocky Mount, NC entered her eternal rest on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Wilson Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born on February 4, 1929, in Edgecombe County, she was the oldest of two children of the late James and Lucy Wyche. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, James Wyche, and sons, Ernest, and Clarence Wyche. Elsie received her education through the Nash County School System. She was a retired employee of Guardian Care Nursing Home in the housekeeping department. Receiving Jesus as her Savior, she joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. She gave unselfishly of her time and resources in the following: St. Paul Gospel Choir, Willing Workers, Adult Sunday School, Women’s Ministry, and the Happy Hour Senior Club. Elsie was blessed to obtain 50 years of more in membership at St. Paul Baptist Church. Family was important to Elsie and watching Rashida take her first steps as a toddler and calling her “Granny” was one of her proudest moments. She was elated when Rashida received her master’s degree in 2011 and being a part of her wedding day on June 28, 2014. Another proud moment is when Ayana came into her life, and she became a great grandmother. Her wonderful spirit and beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Vera Lyons (Edward) of Rocky Mount, NC; granddaughter, Rashida Pierce (Earl) of Nashville, NC and Clarissa Wyche of Greenville, NC; great granddaughter; Ayana Speight of Nashville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. ****In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Elsie's memory to the Women's Ministry - St Paul Baptist Church, P.O Box 8890 Rocky Mount, NC 27804 These professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash Street, Rocky Mount, NC. Share your favorite memories, offer words of sympathy, light a candle, or leave a memento on the Tribute Wall. Due to COVID-19, H.D.
