<p>Richard Lee Payne, 86 of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, formerly of Eureka, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his residence.<br /> He was born September 16, 1935 in Peoria, IL to Richard C. and Dorothy F. (Hexamer) Payne. He married Edith M. Grusy on October 7, 1956 in Eureka. She survives.<br /> Also surviving are one daughter, Lori (Mike) Martin of Geneseo, IL; one son, Hal (Rhonda) Payne of Eureka, IL; five grandchildren, Brandi Payne of Peoria, Derek (Amber) Payne of Eureka, Shelby (Kody) Quint of Ogallala, NE, Trent (Sylwia) Martin of Fitchburg, WI, Stephanie (Ian) Mattan of East Moline, IL; and six great-grandchildren, Ellie Marie, Ayla Jo, Emma Michelle and Addie Sue Payne all of Eureka, Isabella Migas and Gabriel Stanley Martin of Fitchburg, WI.<br /> He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Beverly Hain.<br /> He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Toul, France. Richard worked as a lineman for Cilco for 11 years. Later, he became an Owner/Operator of his own truck. He enjoyed golfing and boating and loved spending time with his family and friends.<br /> A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Olio Township Cemetery and livestreamed at https://facebook.com/Argo-Ruestman-Harris-Funeral-Home-136178893098783/. Pastor John Vaughn will officiate.<br /> In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
