William "Bill" James Danielson Obituary

William James “Bill” Danielson, 88, of Livingston, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Bill was born in Butte, MT on August 26, 1933, to Gertrude and Nephi Danielson. Bill was a true Butte boy, and his adventures were never ending. He worked in the Butte mines and later began a career with the N.P. and B. N. Railroads, spending 41 years as a Fireman and Engineer. He loved the trains and his time on the rails. Bill married in 1954 and from this marriage two daughters were born. In 1983 he married the love of his life, Helen. They traveled extensively and enjoyed many wonderful times, making numerous friends along the way. Helen’s children were an integral part of his life. He loved life and kept busy, making each day count. Bill was a carpenter, clockmaker, collector, great storyteller and awesome tour guide. He was generous with his time and was always willing to help someone out. It brought him great joy to give his clocks and other wood pieces away, and we will treasure them forever. Recent years may have slowed his body down, but not his spirit and we are all blessed to have had him with us for as long as we did. It is now our time to keep the stories going, for his work on earth is done. Bill is survived by his wife Helen, his two daughters: Danette (Randy) Mattson and Sandy (Larry) Girdler all of Butte. A sister JoAnn (Bob) McGrath of Billings, three bonus children: Linda Mayes of Billings, Dan (Stacey) Richards and Ray (Karen) Richards all of Livingston. Grandchildren: Brandon (Katie) Mattson, Trevor (Mikki) Mattson, and Kelsey Mattson, Ben and Blake Girdler, Luke and Kyle Mayes, Nick, Danna, Andrew, Alex and Isaac Richards, Sean and Mary Richards, as well a nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A heart of gold stopped beating, two hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. A celebration of life will be held in honor of Bill on Saturday, November 13th, at 2:00 P.M. at Franzen-Davis. A light reception will follow at the funeral home and a private family interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
