Eleanor Mader Judy November 15, 1926 to October 27, 2021 Eleanor Mader Judy passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on October 27, 2021 three weeks before her 95th birthday. Eleanor was born near Shellsville, Pennsylvania to Ben and Elsie Mader as the fifth of six children with sisters Charlotte, Ruth, Helen and brothers Leonard and Ben. Eleanor was a 1943 graduate of Lower Paxton High School as the class Salutatorian. She worked in the Accounting Department of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 16 years. In 1958, Eleanor married Earl Judy, her beloved husband of 54 years until his death in 2012. During their marriage, they lived in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Dover, Delaware; Fukuoka, Japan; Honolulu, Hawaii, and Bowie, Maryland. At the age of 42, Eleanor fulfilled a dream of earning a Bachelor's Degree by completing a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and French. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Joanna Gilbert and her husband, John; her son, Ned Judy, and 3 grandchildren: Alexandra Gilbert, John Gilbert, Jr., and Daniel Gilbert. Eleanor loved being part of her family's schools, sports, recitals, plays and her family reunions in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Eleanor began teaching Sunday School and Bible School at the age of 16 at Manada Hill Church. She taught Sunday School everywhere she lived until the age of 83 years when she became a Sunday School Secretary. She taught 3rd grade Sunday School at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church from 1985 till 2009 and enjoyed seeing her former students through the years as they grew up. She lived a life of service volunteering in her churches and her community. In the 1980's and 90's, Eleanor worked for DAV-CO in Crofton, Maryland in the payroll department until her retirement. During retirement, she and Earl enjoyed traveling in Europe, North Africa and the United States. Eleanor's family will honor and celebrate her life with a memorial prayer service. Interment will be with her husband at Crownsville Veterans' Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Bowie, Maryland.
