George Raymond Evans Jr., 86, of Enfield, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Medical Center. Born and raised in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late George and Kathryn (Towne) Evans. George resided in the Enfield community for 60 years. He served honorably in the U.S. AirForce and was employed as an Air Traffic Controller at Bradley Airport before retiring after 28 years. After his retirement, George loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed solving puzzles of all kinds. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and tending to his vegetable garden. He is survived by his companion of over 32 years, Susan Mazza, four children, Gloria Detura, Richard Evans, Christine Evans, and Dianne Mircelina, and step children Gina Reigles and her husband Stephen and Alan Mazza and wife Monica, brother, Thomas Evans and his wife Lena, three sisters, Elizabeth Swanson, Mary Ellen Canha, and Kathryn Lucarelli and her husband Jerry, five grandchildren, Melissa Creedon, Derek Detura, Gia Pugliano, Summer and Brandon Reigles, four great grandchildren, Cole Detura, Elvis, Kira, and Siobhan Creedon. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wed. Nov. 3, 2021 at St. Patrick Church, 64 Pearl St., Enfield. Burial will be private.
