Fernand Lionel Frederick Obituary

Fern was born Saturday April 29, 1944 and passed peacefully with his family by his side at his home in Kazabazua, Quebec, on Friday September 24, 2021. Loving husband of Mary Lacharity and dear father of Judy (Mario), Jacqueline, Michael (Haley) and Patricia (Patrick). Proud and cherished “Grandpa Fern” of his precious grandchildren McKinnon, Clara and Keegan. He will be missed by his faithful companions Macie and Hughie. Son of the late Leo and Mildred Frederick and dear brother of Leopold (Teri), Aline (Dennis) and Julie (Don). Predeceased by his sister Angeline (late Phil Paquette) and brother Marcel (Peggy). Son-in-law of the late Mick and Lena Lacharity and brother-in-law of Diane (Maynard), Leonard (Evelyn), Lorne (Debbie), Theresa (Larry) and Della (late Gerald Rooney). Predeceased by sisters-in-law Hope Fredrick and Cathy Lacharity, and great nephew Alex Paquette. Survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and honorary grandson Phillip St Jean.

Fern loved his adventures with Mary to visit Michael and family in Hamiota MB where he was so proud to help with planting and harvesting their crops. Fern loved spending time with and telling stories to family and friends and he never missed a family gathering. The annual hunting excursions with the Paquette/Fredrick crew, the four wheeler trips, wood working, and coaching and watching his boys play and win hockey cups were near and dear to Fern’s heart. If you wanted to see Fern smile someone just had to bring up one of these events and oh the stories he would share. Many a fun time was had at parties especially the annual corn roasts with Fern singing or playing music with his homemade wash tub instrument. Fern was a former member of the Low and District Lions Club. Heartfelt thanks to Genevieve Lafleur, Sara Noel, Dr. Legault and the CLSC staff.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Venosta Quebec at 11:00 am. Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral will be private and by invitation only. Private burial to take place at a later date.
