Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, October 29, at Woodbine Cemetery for Freddie Alvarado Rivera of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Rivera, 73, died on October 21, 2021 at his home in Artesia.

Pastor David Brunson will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Fred Rivera Jr., Tony Rivera, Adrian Rivera, Anthony Rivera, Jevon Rivera and Ivan Rivera. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 9 am to noon on Friday.

Freddie was born on February 29, 1948 in Miami, Arizona; the son of Reynaldo Rivera and Elodia Alvarado Rivera. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. On April 19, 1965 he married Lupe Chavarria in Artesia.

Freddie was an oilfield worker until his retirement. He loved reading his Bible and participating in Bible Study with Pastor David Brunson, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leo Rivera, Jessie Rivera, and Ramon Rivera, sisters Viola Natividad and Rosemary Karr, and by infant siblings Raymond and Ramona Rivera.

Survivors include his wife Lupe Rivera; sons Fred Rivera Jr and wife Gracie, Tony Rivera and wife Dorothy, and Adrian Rivera and Amanda Tarin; brothers Dr. Manuel Rivera, Joe Rivera, Albert Rivera, Julian Rivera, and Martin Rivera; sisters Antonia Gutierrez, Betty Hernandez, Linda Molina, and Lucy Gomez; grandchildren Robert Sarellano, Anthony Rivera, Reuben Rivera, Angelo Rivera, Matthew Rivera, Jevon Rivera, Isaiah Rivera, Isaiah Tarin, Ethan Rivera, and Ivan Rivera; and by 17 great-grandchildren.
