Barbara Morrison

March 3, 1939 – October 20, 2021


Barbara Morrison went to her Heavenly Home with the Lord and into her mom and dad’s open arms, Alfred, and Viola Morrison. Her Grandmother, Viola Proctor, was also there to greet her with open arms.


Barbara was born on Oklahoma City, OK on March 3, 1939. The family left Oklahoma during the dust bowl days and moved to Santa Ana, California, the eventually settled in Bakersfield, CA. The family opened their first of two restaurants in Bakersfield. The first one, Fat’s Fountain, was located on East California Ave. The second restaurant Niles Street Café was located on Niles Street. Barbara and her sister, Glenna, worked at both during their teen years. In 1957 Barbara graduated from East Bakersfield High School. After 40 years of service as secretary, printer and office manager, Barbara retired from youth for Christ Kern County.


Barbara and Glenn enjoyed traveling. They cruised to and around Alaska after Barbara’s retirement. They loved the beach and traveled to the cost when they could. Barbara liked challenged, worked on crossword puzzles, and read mysteries. She faithfully read her bible daily. Barbara attended Riverlakes Community Church where she served and volunteered for many years.


Barbara is survived by her sister, Glenna Morrison, many cousins, and friends. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Bakersfield Church of the Brethren 327 A Street in Bakersfield. Please make donations to Youth for Christ Kern County in Lieu of flowers.
