Mr. Jackie L. Gibson, 81, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at Alton Nursing and Rehabilitation in Alton on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. He was born May 25, 1934 in Nortonville, Kentucky, a son of the late Rice and Ozza (Williams) Gibson. He married Wanda Fay (Jones) Gibson on June 2, 1962 in Shawneetown, Illinois and she passed away on April 25, 2009. He retired in 1994 from Olin Corporation in East Alton after over 25 years of dedicated service as a laborer. He loved listening and singing country music, watching westerns and enjoyed his days of fishing. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela and Stefan Redd of Granite City, Jackie Gibson of Granite City and Brenda Conder of Granite City; one son, William Lee Gibson of Alton; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd and James Gibson of Kentucky; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dean Holt Jr.; a grandson; a granddaughter and a sister, Myrtle. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be accepted at the funeral home.
