Obituary
Harry H. Moore, 96 of Marquette, passed away Tuesday evening, October 26, 2021 at Brookridge Heights Memory Care in the presence of his loving family and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. Harry was born on June 17, 1925 in Portland, Oregon, one of two children born to the late Charles R. and Goldie Ann (Reynolds) Moore. After his high school graduation, Harry was drafted into the U.S. Armed Services and was honorably discharged after two years of service at the conclusion of World War II. He then attended Oregon State University at Corvallis, Oregon where he received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. He also received a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. Harry was employed with the Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service for 37 years retiring in 1986. He was an innovator and pioneer in Sea Lamprey control. In his free time, Harry enjoyed gardening, going to his "Get Fit Class" with Barb Coleman and attending NMU Hockey games which he was a fervent supporter of. He relished trips to Oregon to visit his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He also enjoyed working on his camp in Deerton, watching the girl dogs run and playing Frisbee with his favorite Border collie, Chopper. Survivors include his cherished daughter, Alyssa Sumich and her significant other, Bill Fleury of Marquette; two grandchildren, Tyrel Anthony Sumich and Alexis Nicole Sumich both of Blachly, OR; great granddaughter, Peyton Nicole Diess; special family friend, Debbie Couillard of Ashtabula, OH; also former son-in-law, Nicholas Sumich of Blachly, OR. Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Robert Thomas Moore; his beloved wife, Vivian Geraldine Moore and a son, Thomas Russell Moore. At Harry's request there will be no visitation or funeral service.
