Dennis Kunkle Obituary

Dennis Kunkle, 80, of South Greensburg, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg.  He was born June 19, 1941 in Youngwood, a son of the late George R. and Alice (Harold) Kunkle.  He was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics.  He was a Navy veteran and was a former EMT for Mutual Aid Ambulance.  Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Sears Roebuck and Company.  He was a member Third United Church of Christ, South Greensburg.  He was also a member of South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, Masonic Lodge No. 225, Compassionate Friends, and Tall Cedars.  Dennis enjoyed attending his grandsons’ football and baseball games and taking them fishing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gail (Pegg) Kunkle; daughter, Dana Kunkle; and brother-in-law, Thomas Gaudi.  He is survived by his son, Lee Kunkle (Mary Ann), of Hempfield; daughter, Diane Jackson (Tim), of Swissvale; grandchildren, Corey Kunkle, Keishawn Jackson, Joshua Kunkle, and Samuel Kunkle; step-grandchildren, Tiana Jackson, Timmy Jackson, Adrian Jackson, and Anthony Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Roman Kunkle, Kamaiyah Jackson, and Jasiah Kunkle; two sisters, Patricia Gaudi, of Hempfield, and Janie Jury (Fred), of Plano, TX; brother, James Kunkle (Linda), of Mooresville, NC; a number of nieces and nephews; and his dog, HJ.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert R. Garris officiating.  Interment and military honors will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Third United Church of Christ, South Greensburg, or Action for Animals Humane Society, Derry.  www.bachafh.com
