Obituary
Charlotte B Taylor Charlotte B Taylor, formally of 7 Hilliard Circle in Exeter, died October 25, 2021 at the age of 94 at Riverwoods. The daughter of Charles and Jesse Brown, Charlotte was born on August 2, 1927 in Littleton, NH. Her father worked at the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem, NH for 53 years, 25 as Superintendent, allowing Charlotte and her brothers Doug and Harold to have wonderful childhoods in the White Mountains living in the Red House on the farm’s 1,400 acres. Charlotte graduated from Bethlehem High School in 1945 and was class valedictorian. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 1949 Charlotte taught Home Economics in Henniker, NH. Charlotte and her husband, Bob, settled in Exeter, where Bob managed the Exeter Inn for several years. It was in Exeter where Charlotte raised her four children – the joys of her life: John and Gina (Swanson) Taylor of Kennebunkport, Maine, Peggy and Ed Brennan of Hingham, MA, Bruce and Laurie (Oliver) Taylor of Wellesley, MA, and Nancy and Jeff Shute of Deerfield, NH. She is survived by her nieces Carol Boucher, Clare Brown, Brenda Brown, nephew David Brown and their families. Charlotte was a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader and developed many lasting friendships throughout the Exeter community. Charlotte resumed her teaching career in the Exeter Schools for 33 years as a Home Economics teacher. She always enjoyed meeting up with her former students, many mentioning they still had the pillow they made in her sewing class. The Exeter High School Class of 1974 dedicated their yearbook to Charlotte. Upon retirement Charlotte started her dream job as a grand and great grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Charlotte, assuming her new name Mimi, found her greatest pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren and their friends. Charlotte will be missed and remembered by many for her warmth and kindness, and of course, her famous Congo bars. Charlotte’s children would like to thank the staff at Riverwoods for their support and wonderful care, especially over the past two years – we had great comfort in knowing mom was under their care.
