He then went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John was a very kind, dedicated, and hardworking man and anything that was broken he could fix. He was handy especially when it came to woodworking. He loved the ocean and spending time at his home down the shore in Point Pleasant Beach. John enjoyed taking long walks with his sweetheart. John also loved history and reading, especially books about cars, science, and mechanics. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Genevieve D’Amato Giancola, two dear sons, Frank James Giancola, MD, of Centreville, VA; John P and wife Cathy Giancola of Jackson, NJ; a loving daughter, Donna Marie Giancola of Neshanic Station, NJ; five cherished grandchildren, Michael, Angelina, Antonio, Lorenzo, and Giovanni, and one adored great grandson, Jonathon.
