Eugene L. Sears Obituary

Eugene Leo Sears, 84, went to be with his Savior on October 26, 2021 He was born in Plattsburgh on December 5, 1936, the son of the late Leo and Dora (Phaneuf) Sears and was raised on the family farm on the Moffitt Road. In 1954, he joined the Air Force and was a photographer on the planes and was discharged in 1956. He started working construction for CJ Langfellows for 10 years and then started at Plattsburgh Quarries driving a cement truck for 25 years. After he retired, he worked for Todd Deyo in the summer and went to Florida in the winter. He is survived by his wife; Bonnie (Delisle) Sears whom he married July 21, 1984, two daughters; Joanne (Brian) Sheridan, Laurie Sears, two sons; Robert (Michelle)Sears and Fred (Becky) Sears, two grandsons; Landon and Jaydan Sears, one granddaughter; Marcqui (Mike) Parham, two great granddaughters; Kahlie Crew and Alivia Jones, two sisters; Marie (May) Manor and Annette Deyo, father in law; Kenneth Delisle, sister in law; Debbie (Mickey) Carpenter, brothers in law; Mike Sr. (Patricia), Tommy (Missy), Scott Delisle, special nieces and nephews; Amy and William Gallagher, Mike Jr. and Kristen, Justin and Kristen, Chase and Cass and Delisle, Sara (Chris) Arnold, Hannah (Robert) Stroehlein, Mollie (Tyler) Short, Loghan (Sassine) Sassine, Todd (Tammy) Deyo, Kelli (Miles) Mody, Wayne (Silvia), Cindy, Michelle Manor and many more nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Dora and Leo Sears, mother in law; Doris (Oshier) Delisle, sister Valeda (George) Cote, brothers Wilfred and Floyed Sears, and brother in laws; John Manor and Ernest Deyo, and grandson Ryan Sears. He and Bonnie would winter in Florida for 22 years. When home, he enjoyed his family and camping. When they stopped going to Florida, he would get up every morning and tell Bonnie he was “going to work” but was going to Ronnie’s Four Corners or Penny’s to have coffee with his buddies (John, George, Chuck and Orville) where they would tell stories. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00am at St. James Church in Cadyville. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, the Make a Wish Foundation or Masses. The family wishes to thank Katie at Hospice for the excellent care given to Eugene.
