Mark Calacci

Mark C Calacci, 65, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born April 16, 1956, in Rockford, the son of Marco and Edith (Abby) Calacci. Graduate of Jefferson High School. Mark married Sue Douglas on June 21, 1980, at Christ United Methodist Church in Rockford. Together they celebrated 41 years of marriage. He owned and operated Calacci Landscaping. Landscaping was his passion. Mark took such pride and joy in his own yard. We refer to it as “Mark’s Park.” He would be out there all day if he could, rain, snow or shine. Mark was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame and watching old TV Westerns. Mark was a generous man who contributed to several charities. Most of all he loved his family and his late dog, Bailey. Mark now has his daughter Kelsey in one arm and Bailey in the other. Survived by his wife, Sue; daughter McKenzie; siblings, Gary (Chris), Rod (Susan), Rick (Kelly), Scott (Wendy), and Patti (Jerry) Lecklider; sister-in-law, Kelly (Rick) Calacci; and brothers-in-law, Michael “Mel” and Jeff Douglas. Predeceased by his parents; and daughter, Kelsey. Mark was a true friend, and even while going through his battle he was there for them and they were there for him. He empowered everyone he knew and was positive even through tough times. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, with Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service. Private burial in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Multiple Myeloma Foundation, PO Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238.
