Colleen Faye (Lyon) Hastings, age 61, of Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away on October 26, 2021 at CHI Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa due to pancreatic cancer. Colleen was born in Shenandoah, IA and moved to Council Bluffs, IA shortly afterwards. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, Council Bluffs, IA in 1979. She then went on to attend Morningside College and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in urban planning. Colleen met her husband, Tim Hastings, while in high school at A.L.H.S. They were married on August 20, 1983. They had two children, Lindsey and Scott. Colleen held various jobs in economic development, marketing, property management, and most recently as an Administrative Assistant in the Theology department for Creighton University. She enjoyed the outdoors and animals, hiking and fishing camping, riding her bike, and spending time with her family. Colleen was an active member in her Community of Christ congregation in Shenandoah, IA, and enjoyed the ministry of music. Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Hastings; and father Eldon Lyon. Colleen is survived by her two children, Lindsey Hastings of Council Bluffs, IA and Scott (Jennifer) Hastings of Iowa City; her granddaughter Hattie Hastings; mother Nadine Lyon; brother Rex (Anita) Lyon and family; uncle Clark (Donna) Christensen and family. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Friday, October 29, 2021. Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Both will take place at Cutler-O’Neill Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Graveside service will directly follow at Hazel Dell Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the Community of Christ Church of Shenandoah, Iowa.
