<p>&nbsp;Beatrice&nbsp;Jackson&#39;s earthly life began on May 9, 1936 in Buena Vista, Georgia as the third child of four children, born to Ralph and Alma Pearson.</p> <p>At the tender age of six, her parents relocated to Michigan City, Indiana where her adult life began to flourish.&nbsp;Upon graduating from Elston Senior High School in 1954, she occupied numerous positions, but most notably spent a number of years employed at Polerum (Michigan City Paper Box Company), Michigan City Plastics for over 25 years, Gap Stores for 10 years.&nbsp;Her strong work ethic led her back to the workforce at the age of 79 as a bus monitor with the Michigan City Area Schools, where she continued working until succumbing to her illness.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Beatrice Jackson affectionately known as &ldquo;Mommy&rdquo; proclaimed &ldquo;I will serve the Lord at all times&rdquo;.&nbsp; Mommy loved the Lord, serving Him in worship and prayer at her beloved church, Bethel AME, where she served as an usher for a good part of her life.&nbsp;Her faith continued in her service as a member of the Alice B. Henson Women Missionary Society becoming a Torchligter after serving more than 25 years of service.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Activities she enjoyed were dancing, being a history buff of the Michigan City area, she loved telling stories of growing up in Michigan City and her travels with her friend Lillian during their teenage years. She also bowled with the Michigan City Bowling League.&nbsp;Holidays and special occasions made Mommy widely known and sought after for the delectable dishes of spaghetti, chili, fried chicken wings, salisbury steak, dressing and banana pudding. Mommy loved life bringing laughter and joy in all settings with her funny remarks making life a little lighter.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life will take place on&nbsp;Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00am&nbsp;at Bethel A.M.E. Church,&nbsp;629 E. Michigan City, Indiana&nbsp;with Pastor David Swarn Officiating&nbsp;and Elder Marc Jackson will do the Eulogy. Burial will immediately&nbsp;follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19,&nbsp;In Compliance with the CDC guidelines, We ask that ALL guest&nbsp;please wear your mask.</p> <p>Beatrice &ldquo;Mommy&rdquo; Jackson gained her wings on October 25, 2021, while a&nbsp;residence at Life&nbsp;Care Center in Michigan City, Indiana. She was preceded in death by the beloved parents, Ralph and Alma Pearson, her eldest brother Edward Duncan, only sister Betty Isbell, and brother Joseph Duncan, daughter Doretha Kelley, son Kevin Jackson, granddaughter Lashun McDowell Adams, and grandson Lonnie Hogan, Jr., one niece, Melanie&nbsp;Isbell, a cousin, Annie Pearl Harris, and daughter in law Earlene Edwards, five special friends, Mildred Smith Hervey,&nbsp;Bobbie Harmon,&nbsp;Betty Joiner, Margaret Culpepper, and Patricia Dawson.</p> <p>She leaves to cherish her memories&nbsp;through her children Cherie (George) McDowell of Orland&nbsp;Park, IL; Alexander Raydean Edwards of Michigan City, IN; Gwendolyn (Clyde) Williams of&nbsp;Michigan City, IN;&nbsp;Loyce Woodard of Carmel, IN; David Jackson of Michigan City, IN; LeRoy (Monica) Jackson of South Bend, IN; Sandra (Michael ) Briggs Sr.&nbsp;of Michigan City, IN; Marc Jackson of Warner Robins, GA;&nbsp;Dia (Frank) Bocage of Fayetteville, GA; Wendy Swink (Martin) Emeruom of Plainfield, IN;&nbsp;and Robert Bobby Jackson of&nbsp; Plainfield, IN; her&nbsp;grandchildren include Kiahna (Jerry) Davis, Natissa Woodard, Doc McDonwell&nbsp;III, Latisha&nbsp;Ann Jackson&nbsp;(James)&nbsp;Harris, Joshua Jackson, Quincy Jackson, Kyle Edwards, Mirandah&nbsp;Johnson, Jessica (Mike) Chase, Renee Edwards, Mike Crowder, Tracy Crowder, John Crowder,&nbsp;Nathaniel Crowder, Michael Briggs, Jr., LeRoy Jackson, Jr., Elijah Jackson, Carley Jackson, Summer Jackson, Christopher Marc Jackson,&nbsp;special cousins, Ethel Pearl Maloney, Catherine &ldquo;Kitty&rdquo; Brooks, Annie Shirlene Chester, Betty Covington-English, special friends, Lillian Walker McDaniel, Joan Gooden, Joyce Gaston, Marilyn Perteet, Jenine Mitchell, Loray Wade, Lillie Reed Evans, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, Church family, Life Care residents, and friends.</p> <p>Mommy Beatrice will be sorely missed by all that knew her.</p>
