<p style="text-align: center;">Sadly the family of Fred McLaughlin announce his passing on Friday October 22 2021 at the Port Hardy hospital with his family by his side.<br /> Fred is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn, sons Tim and David, daughter Heather, daughter in law Nikole and son in law Brendan. Grandchildren Kelly & Dyllan, Terri & Ryan, Aidan, Michael, Abigail & Kaitlyn. Great grandchildren Lila and Axle. Many nieces, nephews and extended family.<br /> Fred was born August 31 1944 in Fredericton NB to Tom & Lena McLaughlin, one of six kids. He left the east coast in 1965 bound for BC where he met Evelyn at the Pine Cafe in Port Alberni. They married in 1967 and began raising their family in Port Alberni until they made the move to Holberg where they spent the next 25 years. After he retired from years of wrenching, they moved to Port Hardy where he continued spending his time hunting, fishing, camping and time with his family and friends.<br /> Fred will be fondly remembered by his amazing sense of humor, his infectious laugh and unwavering patience. He always lent a helping hand and very generous with his time.<br /> In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke foundation.<br /> The family would like to thank the staff at the Port Hardy hospital for their kindness and care.</p>Obituary
