José Manuel Medeiros, also known by the nickname “Budweiser,” was a caring Husband, Father, Juju (Grandfather), Brother, and Friend. He left this world suddenly on October 26, 2021, at the age of 70. Even though a failing heart took him away, his loving spirit left a beacon of light for the Portuguese community.

He was born in the town of Velas on the island of São Jorge, in the Azores off the coast of Portugal, on November 17, 1950. With his family in 1969, they migrated to the United States when he was just 18 years old. By 1971 he had helped co-found the Portuguese Band of San Jose, where his influence had reached the masses of Portuguese immigrants from far and wide. He worked for a few years doing chain link fences up and down California until he pivoted to drywall taping in the construction field for the rest of his 40-year working career. His passion was for music, and all things Benfica, San Francisco 49ers, and San Francisco Giants.

José Manuel is preceded in death by his father and mother, João and Helena Medeiros. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 47 years, Mary Manuela, daughter Paula and husband Nathan, son Joey and wife Melissa, and son Carlos. He was an awesome Juju to his five grandchildren: Joshua, Nicholas, William, Owen, and Morgan. He is also survived by his two sisters, Lucia and Olga, his two brothers, João and wife Ofelia, and Victor. He was an uncle and godfather to Joey Garcia, Helena Medeiros, Marcos Ramos, and Christopher Furtado. And he leaves behind uncles, aunts, cousins, and numerous friends he considered his extended family.

Funeral services start on Monday, November 8, 2021, and end with interment on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Please see the information below for the exact timing.
