<p><a href="https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83354735878?pwd=NUxJVUFrVm5PY2RTcmg3NFNLcUZjQT09">WATCH LIVE FUNERAL STREAM HERE </a>(11:00 AM MDT)</p> <p>Melba Carter Houtz of Pleasant Grove passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021.&nbsp; She was born December 26, 1927, the oldest daughter to Orval Carter and Caroline Shoell Carter.&nbsp; She was the third child and had nine brothers and two sisters.&nbsp; Dale, Leo, Gene, Leonard, Leland, LeRoy, Earl, Gary, Boyd, Joyce and Carolyn.</p> <p>She married Max Kenneth Houtz on June 12, 1947.&nbsp; They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.&nbsp; They were married for fifty years.&nbsp; Together they had five children: Ronald (deceased), Marilyn (deceased), Shirlene, Kevin, and Brent (deceased). &nbsp;She had 12 grandson&rsquo;s, 2 granddaughters and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.</p> <p>Melba worked at the American Fork Hospital as a nurse&rsquo;s aide and later moved to a material handler. She retired in 1987.&nbsp;</p> <p>She loved to play games and cards with her friends. She enjoyed working in her yard and had a beautiful rose garden.&nbsp; She looked forward to planning an Easter party for the grandkids and enjoyed having family come over for Strawberry days and the parade and lunch. She also enjoyed the holiday parties over Thanksgiving and Christmas.&nbsp;</p> <p>Melba enjoyed going to the city park and listening to the music concerts that were held there. She loved going south for the winter with Max for three months at a time.&nbsp; It was something she looked forward to. She also loved watching BYU and Jazz games.</p> <p>Mom will be dearly missed by her family and many special friends. She loved them all.&nbsp;</p> <p>The family would like to thank everyone for their continued love and kindness to mom.&nbsp; She lived 93 wonderful years.</p> <p>An evening viewing will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 6:00 &ndash; 8:00 pm in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.&nbsp; Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Pleasant Grove 2nd Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 &ndash; 10:45 am prior to the services. Melba Carter Houtz of Pleasant Grove passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021.  She was born December 26, 1927, the oldest daughter to Orval Carter and Caroline Shoell Carter.  She was the third child and had nine brothers and two sisters.  Dale, Leo, Gene, Leonard, Leland, LeRoy, Earl, Gary, Boyd, Joyce and Carolyn.

She married Max Kenneth Houtz on June 12, 1947.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.  They were married for fifty years.  Together they had five children: Ronald (deceased), Marilyn (deceased), Shirlene, Kevin, and Brent (deceased).  She had 12 grandson’s, 2 granddaughters and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.

An evening viewing will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Pleasant Grove 2nd Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 am prior to the services.
