June Arlene George was born June 7, 1931, to Emanuel and Edith (Kohler) George in Manheim, PA. She grew up in Pennsylvania, graduating from Manheim High School in 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper at a manufacturing plant then at Rube Kreider Ford in Manheim.

June was united in marriage to Oscar Kauk on October 23, 1954, in Manheim. They made their home on his homestead farm 1 ½ miles northwest of Artas, SD. She was a farm wife willing and able to do everything on the farm. While on the farm they started Kauk’s Meat Market in 1982. June moved into Eureka in 1987. She was a fixture at Kauk’s Meat Market and thoroughly enjoyed being there with her family.

June loved gardening and flowers. Sewing was a pastime she enjoyed, sewing many outfits for grandchildren and her children. Her family was blessed to have her be able to make bridesmaids and wedding dresses for her children. Her home was always festive and decorated for all holidays, ready for her family. June loved to feed the birds and puzzles were entertaining for her.

She was a member of Eureka Reformed Church and a past member of Artas Reformed Church from 1954-1997 where she was an organist and Sunday school teacher.

Grateful for having shared June’s life are her children, Larry (Ruth Ann) Kauk and Ronald (Cynthia) Kauk, both of Eureka and Barbara (David) Krumm of Zeeland, ND; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her parents.

Casketbearers will be Timothy Kauk, Anthony Kauk, Corey Kauk, Joseph Krumm, Joshua Krumm, and Caleb Kranzler.
