Charles "Chuckie" Nelson Obituary

Charles “Chuckie” Richard Nelson was born January 1, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Albin Gotfrid and Svea Ingeborg (Sjoblom) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Augustana Lutheran Church. He attended grade school and high school in Clarkfield, graduating from Clarkfield High School in 1948. After high school, Chuckie enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany after basic training. He was a member of the Clarkfield Legion Post 169.

Following his military service, Chuckie worked several jobs in International Falls, MN cutting and hauling trees for Boise Cascade Paper Mill. He worked with his father for Nelson Community Motor Service in Clarkfield and had various other jobs until his retirement.

Chuckie passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the age of 91 at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albin Sr. In 1972 and Svea in 1980; brother, Albin Jr.; nephews, Kerry Olson and Greg Thompson, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty (Fayette) Jensen, Mary Sampson, Lorraine (Richard) Olson, Loretta (Ed) Rinas. Chuckie is survived by brother-in-law, Wayne Sampson; sister-in-law, Pat Nelson, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1 PM at the J.H. Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 12 PM. Interment to follow in Fridhem Cemetery in rural Clarkfield.
