John Richard London

John Richard London 2/4/1939 - 10/23/2021 John Richard London age 82, died peacefully on October 23, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, John Richard Challis, and Mary Frances Dickinson and by his adoptive parents, Chester A London and Anna Boytos; his stepmother, Edith challis; his sisters, May, Joanne, Brenda; and his brother, Roger. He is survived by his wife of 61 years and the love of his life, Nancy A. London; his sons, Scott London (Mark), Barry London (Sandy), and Mark London (Michelle); four grandchildren, Zack, Daniel, Alexis and Evan; his sisters, Gloria, Linda, Janice; and his brother, John. John attended Warwick High School in Newport News. He served in the United States Naval Reserves and in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller. He studied computer engineering at the University of Georgia and was a systems engineer with NCR corporation. He loved woodworking and created many beautiful things including wooden boxes. John was passionate about history, particularly the American Civil War and participated in archaeological excavations in and around many Virginia battlefields. Fishing was another great joy in his life, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 10 - 11a.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A funeral service to celebrate his life will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tracy Gregory officiating. He will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
