Betty May Savage Obituary

BETTY MAY SAVAGE passed away on October 24, 2021 at the age of 90. Betty was the loving wife of James D. Savage who passed before her in September 2019. They were married for 68 years. Beloved mother of Linda Savage (Michael Sherry) and David Savage (Christine). Devoted grandmother of Justin Savage Reed (Amy), James J. Savage, Bryan D. Savage (Lauren) and Alexander D. Savage. Cherished Great grandmother of Samantha Reed, Joanna Reed, Jackson Savage and Riley Savage. Betty was born in Warwick, England to a farming family and was the youngest of five children. She met James at the age of 17 and married in 1951. They immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1956. They built a home, in Mt. Brydges, literally by themselves, bricks, roof and all. Eventually they immigrated to Royal Oak, Michigan in 1965, moving to Troy in 1976. Betty was very active in organizing dancing, musical and dinner events at the Commonwealth Club in Warren, The Senior Center in Troy and the Troy High School. She loved dancing, particularly Ballroom dancing. Betty and James also taught dancing to others. Betty enjoyed baking and entertaining family and friends and was the happiest when surrounded by loved ones in her English garden. She loved the birds, squirrels “and all creatures great and small”. Her warm smile and generous heart will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral Service Friday, 11a.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Price Chapel), 3725 Rochester Road (between Big Beaver and Wattles) 248-689-0700. Family will receive friends Thursday 3-7p.m. Memorial tributes to Alzheimer’s Association.
