Stephen Ivers Obituary

Stephen Ivers, 71, of Meriden, died on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at home. Born in Meriden on September 14, 1950, he was the son of the late John D. Ivers and Louise Ivers. He graduated from St. Joseph School and Xavier High School and attended Fairfield University. He obtained a degree in nursing and spent several years living in Boston before returning to his hometown of Meriden. He worked at many health care facilities across Connecticut, including more than a decade at the New Haven Correctional Center before his retirement. He was an active member of the Meriden chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic and was a current member of the Men''s Group of St. Patrick Parish and Oratory in Waterbury. He was also a regular volunteer with the Meriden Soup Kitchen and the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, and in recent years spent time cleaning the neglected headstones of veterans and children in local cemeteries. He is survived by his two sons, Dan Ivers and his wife Tessa, of Jersey City, N.J., and Timothy Ivers and his partner Jonathan Carter, of New York, N.Y; his siblings Katharine Zatkowski, David (Christine) Ivers, Ellen (Allan) Pronovost, Neil (Abby) Ivers, Alice Nolan, Mark Ivers, Margaret (Alan) Trudel and Louise (Murph) Messier, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and John D. Ivers Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend a Requiem Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Parish and Oratory Church in Waterbury. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Family and friends may call at the John J.
