Obituary
William “Billy” Lamar Wolfe, 81, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Santa Rosa Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. Billy was born in the Allentown community on July 11, 1940, attended the Allentown School and retired from the Santa Rosa County School System after thirty three years of service in the maintenance department. Billy was well known in the Milton community as he could be seen daily riding his bicycle along the roads prior to moving to Westpointe Retirement Center in Pensacola in 2013. Always an entrepreneur, he would collect aluminum cans and scrap metal, mow lawns, and sell pecans he scavenged here and there. He particularly enjoyed crabbing with his uncle Clyde Gracey, loved country music, stock car racing and trading for new models of his bicycles and lawn mowers. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown prior to moving to Milton and subsequently attended services at the First Baptist Church of Milton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston “Jack” Wolfe and Edna (Davis) Wolfe, and his younger brother Frank. Billy is survived by his sister, Bernice Marie (Ken) Bendy, of Orange Park; sister in law, Cheryl (Busby) Wolfe; niece, Melody (Jeremy) Pierce; nephews, Rolland Wolfe and Terry (Donna) Bendy; grandnieces, Mattie and Lillie Pierce, and Zoe Bendy; grandnephew, Terrence Bendy Jr.; and numerous cousins. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, in the Allentown Community, at a later time, with Lewis Funeral Home Directing. There will be no graveside services. Family visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.; and public visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Santa Rosa Center for Rehabilitation Healing, Emerald Coast Hospice, Doctors and Nurses of the Santa Rosa and West Florida Hospitals, and the many independent care givers Billy had seen in the months prior to his death. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Billy’s name, to First Baptist Church of Milton, or your favorite charity.
