Michelle Renae Wallace, 49 of Columbus, passed away Thursday, October 21st. She was born September 22, 1972 in Chicago, IL, the baby of three children and daughter of Robert and Linda Jane (Bohlinth) Benton. Michelle grew up in the rural town of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, a quiet, small town where everyone knew everyone. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends and collecting teapots along the way. Michelle graduated from New Lisbon High School with the Class of 1990 and wanted to pursue a career in nursing. She started nursing school but gave that up to focus on her family. Michelle is remembered as living a vicarious lifestyle. She was definitely a social butterfly with many, many friends who she enjoyed hanging out with. Friends came easy for her because she was the one who could find the positive in any situation. Michelle loved her kids and family and will be sadly missed by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, Robert and Linda Benton. Left to cherish her memories are: her three children: Devon Wood of Portage, WI, Turner Wood of New Lisbon and Raven Johnson of Hartselle, AL; her sister Linda (Daryl) Murphy of Arley, AL and her brother, Douglas Brown of Ford City. Michelle leaves a legacy of four grandchildren, several extended family members and more friends that anyone could possibly count. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
