Martha Faye Cook

Mrs. Martha Faye Cook, 85, of Hurley, MS, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 11, 1936, in Gadsden, AL, to the late Joseph and Laura Mullins. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was lovingly called “Mimi” by her grands, great- grands and almost everyone who knew her. Martha never met a stranger. Everyone knew they were welcome in her home “anytime”. She absolutely adored her grands and great- grands. She was known for her bottomless bowl of candy and cabinet full of “Little Debbies”. She loved Alabama football – especially watching the games on Saturdays with family. Mrs. Cook retired from Singing River Hospital in 1993 after 34 years in accounting. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Bruce Cook; sisters, Annie Jo Hester, Mary Stone, Judy Peace, and Kathy Keeton; brothers, Robert “Moon” Mullins, Max Mullins, Jack Mullins, and Fred Mullins. Mrs. Cook is survived by her son, Terrell “Turk” (Kimberly) Cook; daughter, Lori “Cissie” (Denny) Forsythe; brothers, William “Bill” Mullins, Pell City, AL, and Ben (Shirley) Mullins of Vancleave, MS; grandchildren, Tyler (Kendall) Cook, Trent (Alyssa) Cook, Taylor Cook, Trey Forsythe, and Logan Forsythe; great- grandchildren, Kylee Cook, Kynsleigh Cook, Kyler Cook, and Lucy Leigh Cook; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS, with a visitation from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm with Michael Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point, MS, with Tyler Cook, Trent Cook, Trey Forsythe, Logan Forsythe, Denny Forsythe, and Bruce Bruce serving as pallbearers.

I worked with Martha for so many years at SRHS. We also share family ties. Such a great person to work with and Blessed to have her as a friend.
