Paula Lucille Wood was born Feb. 12, 1929 in Auburn Wyo. to Russell and Alphia Wood. She had five brothers and one sister who she loved so much and they had fun together traveling and visiting. She lived in Gomer Wyoming a small coal mining town in the winter and the summers were spent in a Big Park Wyoming logging camp. She cooked for the hired help, drove the logging truck and helped care for her younger brothers and sister. Paula graduated from Kemmerer High School. She played in the band, performed in plays and won two Queen Events. To help her mother provide for the family after her father died she worked at Scholls Drug Store and for an attorney doing secretarial duties. Paula married Jack Edwin Neil July 14, 1948 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Pocatello Idaho where they raised their four children: Ed, Terry, Jay and Jerry. Mom loved serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many callings including Stake YW Camp Director, Stake Primary, Compassionate Service Coordinator, Visiting Teacher Supervisor and sang in the Ward Choir. During these years she also worked part time in various secretarial positions. When Jack suffered a heart attack in 1972 Paula became Superintendent of the Pocatello Water Department until she retired. Paula developed many exceptional talents including: cooking , gardening, canning, sewing and Family Historian. Mom was a very caring and giving person to everyone she meet. Paula had unlimited energy and drive. She helped Dad build a cabin in Island Park, Idaho where she loved to spend time with her family. She is preceded in death by son Ed and husband Jack. Survived by three children, two of her siblings, 17 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 29th 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 300 E. Chapel Street in Pocatello. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 28th at Wilks Funeral Home in Chubbuck and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Interment will follow services on Friday in the Wardboro Cemetery in Dingle, Idaho. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
