Carol Diane Saunders, age 75, of Brookings, Oregon, passed away on October 16, 2021, at Curry Village, a local skilled nursing facility. She was born on March 17, 1946, in Joliet, Illinois, to Bjorn & Violet Larson, and had a loving brother, Brian Larson.
Carol lived a rich and full life, going to the University of Illinois and earning a bachelor’s degree. She moved a short distance from home to Chicago. Later she moved to Whittier, California, and then to Sanibel, Florida, half of the year, and to Brookings, Oregon, the other half of the year, buying property in both states.
One of Carol’s many highlights was receiving Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of the Gold Beach Foursquare Church and served in the Gospel Outreach ministries. She enjoyed witnessing of her faith by giving people “Sand Dollars,” a shell that relates to the life of Christ.
Carol loved her family, nieces & nephews, beachcombing, and shell collecting. She received awards for the beautiful seashells she gathered on Sanibel Island and was known by locals as “The Shell Lady.”
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ted Saunders. Donations in her memory may be made to the Gold Beach Foursquare Church, 94201 Moore St., Gold Beach, OR 97444.
