George Gordon Ziegler Obituary

George Gordon Ziegler, age 80 of Fairbanks, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 of natural causes at home.

George was born on April 18, 1941 to Paul Wesley Ziegler, Sr. and Florence Crabtree Ziegler in Philadelphia, PA.

George moved to Fairbanks in 1962 in order to attend the University of Alaska, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology and a Masters Degree in Psychology. Following graduation, George was an educator in the Aleutian Islands and an addictions counselor. He served as a psychologist with the State of Alaska Department of Corrections for 20 years. George retired from State service in 2014. Following retirement, George spent his time traveling, visiting with family and friends, and collecting Alaskan artifacts. Since 2002, George was a Mason in good standing with the Tanana Lodge #3 to include serving as Worshipful Mater and a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor with the Scottish Rite.

George is survived by his brother, Paul Wesley Ziegler, Jr. George had a profound effect on everyone who knew him. He is and will always be a favorite Uncle, great friend and mentor. George will be immensely missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 5-7PM at Blanchard Family Funeral Home; 611 Noble Street. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at 11AM at the Tanana Lodge #3, 402 11th Avenue.
