Pedro J. Rios Middletown, N.Y. Pedro J. Rios, a longtime resident for over 25 years and formerly of the Bronx, died at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh on October 21, 2021. He was 75. The son of Virgilio and Juanita Nieves Rios, he was born in San Sebastian, P.R. on October 1, 1946. Pedro served honorably in the US Army during the Viet Nam War and after returning home, met the love of his life, Julia Rodriguez, and shared 54 years together. An avid outdoorsman, he hunted and fished around beautiful Sullivan County. He would travel with friends to their hunting club and learned to appreciate the peace and quiet in the mountains. While he worked in the busy and bustling Bronx, he developed a talent for gardening, raising tomatoes and other vegetables. Pedro was a gifted handyman and could fix anything around the house. He was a good provider for his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandparent. Pedro is survived by his loving soulmate and best friend, Julia , at home, his three children; David, Yolanda and Nancy Rios, all of Middletown and 6 cherished grandchildren, Sebastian, Andreas, Elienna, Destiny, Marcello and Noah as well as one great grandchild, Arabelle. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, with Burial to follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, New York with full Military Honors.
