James Patrick Bartley, Jr. Stamford, Connecticut Obituary

James Patrick Bartley, Jr.

James Patrick Bartley passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Fiona Boote, beloved daughters Jessica Romaniello (Brandon) and Alexandra Bartley, sisters Kathy Bartley and Jean Christie (Bruce), and the mother of his children, Joanne Bartley. He is also survived by several nieces and great nieces and nephews. Jim was born on March 10, 1950 to James and Frances Bartley (McAvoy) in Yonkers, NY, where he attended Sacred Heart Elementary and High School. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1972 and went on to the University of Virginia for an M.S. in Sports Medicine. Later, he graduated from NY Medical College with an M.S. in Health Care Administration. Jim was very proud of his Irish heritage. He co-chaired the first committee creating the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Stamford. He went on to serve as chairman of the parade for many years. He was an avid member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and served on the Men’s Division Board of Directors. After moving to Norwalk, Jim was actively involved with the Norwalk River Watershed Association. He also began teaching at Sacred Heart University as an adjunct professor. Along the way, Jim had many good friends in his personal and professional life. He always had the ability to tell a joke and had a penchant for looking at the bright side of any situation. Jim enjoyed a long career in health care management until he retired from Women’s Healthcare of New England in 2019. In retirement, he enjoyed taking many trips, swimming in the Long Island Sound and riding around Norwalk on his vespa. Family and friends may call at the Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home (same building as Cognetta), 104 Myrtle Avenue Stamford, CT (203)-359-9999 on Monday, October 25 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:30 at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norwalk River Watershed Association. To send on-line condolences to the family, please visit www.gallagherfuneralhome.com
